Day 14

I spent last night doing homework, unfortunatly this computer i am using is almost completly useless.
Woke up to a sunny morning, but dark clouds formed ahead of us, it is supposed to rain today. We were able to dodge the rain yesterday, maybe we can today as well.

This is the sky as we head out, going to go for 40 miles again toady.

An hour later it looks like we are going to be run down by the rain after all.
We were only hit by a couple of drops as the rain passed just in front of us. We took a break in this bus stop that was infested with spiders.
Got lost, the North Sea Route is not marked well in Germany, and so we have just been heading toward which ever town is in the route.

After about 4 hours we stopped for lunch and huddled in an archway  as it rained. Food on the road is always meat with bread and chips.

We stopped to take a break and all these cows came up to the gate. I think they thought we were going to feed them, either way the picture is priceless.
So proud of my wife. she pushes us to go longer and take shorter breaks, and is my great companion on what would have been a lonely trip.

It was great to stop here. They take Visa which most businesses don't, and we were able to plug in our electronics, and there was free internet.
Turns out the ferry we were going to take does not run on Sundays. We tried to find a cheap hotel but got lost. Then we found a decent one a mile back from where we came from , so we booked it and headed out.
Turns out the reception is closed and we are not able to get in! So we back tracked again and shoveled out the money for a nice hotel.

Day 13 Another day

We start the day with this guy and some coffee. The campsites in Germany are not as nice as the ones in Denmark. I am here trying to post yesterdays stuff, but we only get 15 minutes of internet.

Two hours later we arrive at a small town and have lunch. That package of meat on the left has been in our bags for about 2 days already...
 Gingerbread houses!

 We are here!

HAHAHA, great name for a town.
On 5 hours of riding now, when we began we rode for 30 minutes then rested for 5; now we ride for an hour and a half and rest for 2.

I have never liked apples, but free tastes sooo good.
Arrived at another campsite, we have to pay for internet and only one device can use it at a time. Next few days we will be in Amsterdam!

Day 12 A Horrible Beginning, a Good Ending

We decided to leave our bikes at the hotel after we checked out and go see Hamburg. I put our rainfly from our tent over the bikes to make it look less obvious.
We have walked for about 2 hours trying to find a bank that will change our cash into euro. We met this nice young lady that walked with us to show us the way, but we went to three banks, and none of them would change our money, we cannot take a train into the city without euro and we are getting tired, annoyed, and frustrated. On our walk we found this cool mural. You can't see from this angle, but the green part is about 6 feet behind the black and is separated by a sidewalk.

We had to turn back as we could not find a bank that would change our money, we decided to just get on the road as it is already 1 p.m. We stopped by this store and found that food is so much cheaper in Germany than in Denmark, we got a bunch of food for today and tomorrow and when we got to the line, they would not take Visa...

We finally tried to go back to the hotel and get a couple of drinks and tried to see if the owner could just charge us 50 euro extra and give us paper money. He said no, and the waitress said she would take us to a western union. We sped through the city as she was smoking and playing loud music. We finally found one as we went through a maze of a market and got 60 euro.

We tried to give her 5 euro for taking us but she just yelled NEIN!!!! NEIN!!! And walked away. I took a picture of her as she left us off back at the hotel. She was really sweet, and she doesn't know, but in this picture I left the 5 euro right next to her hahaha!
We have no idea where we are going. The google maps app took away the cycle option, and so we are just trying to get to the next city.
We found a cycle path to the city.
The ride is so nice now that we are not in the city. We are riding by dozens of apple orchards. This day is finally turning around.
We finally could not help it and snuck into one.
 Selfie!
 We got the booty!
We rode for another 2 hours and low-and-behold, we are now on the route, the only thing is, Germany does not label the route you are on like in Denmark, so we are guessing the whole time and just riding towards the next city.
Not too far from the next campsite.

Made it into town and set up camp. we had a date with a cheap local dinner, Bratwurst, so freakin good!!! Best meal of the trip!

Day 11 Hamburg

Well Today we got up early and headed to the train station. We are presently half way through our journey. The trails have become too slow for us to make any progress so we are skipping ahead.

We arrived halfway through. We have to change several trains on the way and one point we only had 4 minutes to get off the train and on to another.

 Almost to Germany!
A picture of us in the elevator as we are trying to get to the next train.
Made it to Hamburg. It is not as nice as Denmark, but it is a city so I imagine the country and towns are nicer. The architecture  here however is very beautiful, this is a picture of the train station.

Turns out none of the cafe's here have internet??? We had to plead with a hotel to allow us to use their internet so that we could find a cheap hotel!

I dropped my lock back into the trainstation and had to rush to get it without getting caught.
This is our hotel, a lot nicer in the pictures, but it is what it is.
